Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a career-long approach to planning, maintaining and developing your knowledge and skills. It also ensures you continually build on the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in the competitive business world.
CPD also helps you achieve your development and career goals and build your reputation.
For those who have completed RG 146 Superannuation, CPD is especially important as it enables you to stay compliant with ASIC’s RG 146.
ASFA offers CPD solutions, including courses, events, discussion groups and SuperCPD – our online solution that keeps you up to date with the latest industry trends and developments.
ASFA’s online CPD solution keeps you up to date with the latest industry developments. SuperCPD offers you the opportunity to earn at least 20 CPD points a year, making it easier to maintain your compliance.
To find how which ASFA activities provide you with CPD points, and how many, see our CPD table.
ASFA members can view a report listing all CPD activities successfully completed with ASFA, and the associated points by logging in to their ASFA account.
Once logged in, navigate to “My CPD” to run a CPD report.
ASFA is committed to developing future leaders in the industry and, as such, we see the provision of opportunities for personal development as a key member service. Below is a list of frequently asked questions.
All ASFA events, discussion groups, committee/working groups and learning and development activities in which members have had their names recorded are noted on CPD statements. This includes points for participation in eligible committees.
It is expected that most members will have undertaken professional reading and CPD activities with other organisations. You can upload external activity via ‘My Reports’ under the ASFA toolbox and it will display on this report.
Many ASFA activities allow bookings for groups rather than individuals. This can be for events such as luncheons or non-assessed training activities conducted in a corporate setting. ASFA can only record CPD points against individuals who choose to be registered for the activity. To gain CPD points, bookings need to include the member details. For corporate workshops, the attendance register must be completed in order to have the points reflected in the statement.
If you have any queries on your report, please contact Member Services.
The statements generally only provide evidence of points relating to activities that have been booked individually through ASFA. Action on insufficient points will not be taken on the basis of the CPD statement. Rather, an audit of associates and fellows is made at the end of each financial year at which point you will need to provide additional evidence of CPD.
Membership of ASFA, either as an individual member, or as an employee of a member, is mandatory to retain the right to use AASFA or FASFA postnominals.
All industry professionals are encouraged to undertake CPD activities, especially:
ASFA CPD points are allocated according to the number of hours and effort involved in any given activity, as well as the learning outcomes of that activity. CPD points also contribute to maintaining your ASFA Accreditation. You can earn points by participation in:
