Implications for
Stakeholder Relationships
Overview
The superannuation ecosystem relies on a wide network of stakeholders who each play a role in delivering services to members. While Payday Super is primarily focused on ensuring employers pay super at the same time as wages, the reform has broader implications across the ecosystem that will require continued coordination and engagement.
Key Implications for Stakeholders
- Service providers: Service providers include Administrators, Administration Technology providers, technology support teams, custodians, claims processing, transaction processing, unpaid super support services, data analytics (providers and software), web and app platforms, etc.
- The Payday Super reforms and SuperStream upgrades may impact a wide range of services across the superannuation transaction system, including how those services are managed and measured.
- Funds may wish to consider confirming service provider system and technology capacity to process, manage and store increased data volumes.
- Digital Service Providers (DSPs): Funds should work closely with relevant providers for system builds and support, ensuring comparability with fund requirements.
- Employers, unions and financial advisers
- Funds should engage early and often with these stakeholders to provide key updates and alerts on the fund’s readiness for Payday super as well as identifying changes to the service offering.
- Transition Support: Provide support to employers throughout the transition period as there may be an increase in questions through the immediate period post 1 July 2026, including in relation to the closure of the SBSCH.
