ASFA announces new lineup and structure to better deliver for the super sector

Media Release | 11 February 2025

ASFA – the voice of super – has announced new key team members and changes to its organisational structure to deliver on its strategy, provide a better member experience, and expand its learning and events program.

“We are in an exciting phase of growth at ASFA,” said CEO Mary Delahunty.

“With a renewed focus on member experience, we are looking to improve our industry-leading events program and our offerings as the longest-serving and only specialist superannuation learning provider.

“I’m excited to announce our new team lineup who will undoubtedly help us rise to the challenge.”

Key changes include:

  • A new Head of Events role, Amelia Doss
  • A new Head of Learning role, Stefan Simunic
  • A new Head of Growth and Partnerships, Renee Gantner

Bringing Learning and Events together under John Davis, in the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer, will fully integrate and grow ASFA’s professional development offering, ensuring members have access to ‘gold-star’ learning and networking experiences and industry insights.

In addition, the former CEO of Women in Super, Sandra Buckley, has signed on as ASFA’s Program & Content Manager, supporting both Learning and Events.

“Amelia, Stef, Renee, John and Sandra are all well-known to our superannuation community and I’m delighted they are bringing their deep experience to these new roles,” Ms Delahunty said.

Additional changes have been made across Marketing, Communications and the Policy team to deepen ASFA’s engagement with members and deliver a more seamless experience across communications, events and learning.

“ASFA goes beyond policy to practice: this is our strategic difference so our capabilities are changing to accommodate this.

“Everything we do at ASFA is about aligning with our purpose as the voice of super – to unite the superannuation community, supporting our members with research, advocacy, education and collaboration to help Australians enjoy a dignified retirement.

“Over the last year we have had some significant achievements, including launching the Financial Crimes Prevention Initiative, developing a range of service standards, deepening relationships with the Reserve Bank and our regulators and building up the ASFA conference, the largest pensions conference in the southern hemisphere.

“We’re better serving our critical service provider members, in recognition of the crucial role they play in the sector, and ASFA’s role as the only industry association that has members spanning the breadth of the ecosystem.

“We’ve also been pleased to welcome a number of new members who have signed on in recognition of the work we have launched and delivered in the last 12 months.

“ASFA is looking forward to unveiling some new offerings and better member experiences in the coming months – watch this space!” Ms Delahunty said.
