Executive team

ASFA has been operating since 1962 and is the peak policy, research and advocacy body for Australia’s superannuation industry.

Mary Delahunty - CEO

Mary Delahunty joined ASFA this year and her leadership qualities, industry knowledge, and demonstrated commitment to advancing the sector, align with ASFA’s 60-year-long mission to bring the whole industry together to strengthen the effectiveness of the superannuation system for all Australians.

In 2022 she founded Seven Advisory which provides specialist ESG and impact advisory services to institutional investors developing their social license to deliver long-term value. Prior to that she was Head of Impact at HESTA where she was instrumental in shaping strategic policies and responsible investment practices to advance member outcomes in the superannuation system. She was also previously an executive with Link Market Services.

Mary is a member of the Pensions & Investment World Pension Summit International Advisory Board and holds several board positions including in the RegTech and education sectors and was a 2015 Churchill Fellow awarded for international research on gender equity in retirement outcomes. 

Mary studied Arts at the University of Melbourne, and later completed a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning and then a Masters of Applied Finance. 


John Davis — HR/Head of Learning

John Davis is the Head of Human Resources and Learning, having joined ASFA in 2017.

After 16 years in the NSW Police Force, John left in 2001 to take up senior managerial roles with a number of national, regional and international organisations, becoming a senior director for Unilever ANZ in 2011. In 2014 he founded Bangalley Group management consultancy providing transformation and change support to organisations including Ausgrid, NSW Justice Department, NSW Department of Sport and National Rugby League (NRL).

John is Chairman of CAN Mental Health and is a member of KPMG’s Executive Coaching Panel.

Justine Earl-Smith — Commercial Director

Justine Earl-Smith is Commercial Director, having joined ASFA in February 2020.

Justine manages the teams responsible for the conference, events and sales activities. Prior to ASFA, she was Head of Partnerships and Venue Hire for Place Management NSW (formally Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority) and has over 20 years experience in events, corporate hospitality and marketing, including management of the corporate hospitality programs at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, the 2003 Rugby World Cup and the 2009 Rugby League World Cup.

Justine holds a bachelor of Business from the Queensland University of Technology.

Stella Jin — Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary

Stella Jin is Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary, having joined ASFA in 2013.

She has extensive financial management experience through various roles including Prudential Investment and Redhill Education Limited in Australia, as well as with Siemens in China.

Stella is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) and holds a Master Degree in International Business from Macquarie University and a Master Degree in Professional Accounting.

Katrina Horrobin — General Manager Member Strategy and Experience

Katrina Horrobin is General Manager Member Strategy and Experience, having joined ASFA in 2013.

Katrina has over 20 years of leadership and management experience across marketing and operational roles. She has worked for large, complex organisations including Optus and AAPT, as well as been a founding leadership team member of three different start-up businesses in telecommunications and technology.

Katrina holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Australian National University and is Deputy Chair of the Foundation and Friends of the Botanic Gardens.
