Superannuation peak body ASFA today announces the appointment of Australian Retirement Trust (ART) Chief Executive Officer Kathy Vincent and Brighter Super Chief Executive Officer Kate Farrar to its Board of Directors.
The two CEOs add deep and diverse superannuation and financial services experience to ASFA’s governance structure, as the sector supports a growing number of Australians moving into retirement.
Ms Vincent became CEO of ART in 2025, where she had previously served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Retirement. Prior to ART she held roles at BT, Macquarie Group, MLC and NAB in executive roles spanning product, operations, advice and strategy.
Ms Farrar has led Brighter Super for 8 years, overseeing a period of significant transformation including increasing the fund’s membership five-fold. She brings 30 years of management and 20 years of Board experience across the superannuation, energy, stockbroking, investment management and consulting sectors.
ASFA Chair Linda Elkins said the two CEOs bring fresh perspectives and depth of experience to the already highly experienced Board as it navigates a pivotal time for superannuation. “We are delighted to have Kathy and Kate join the Board.
Their collective experience across different parts of the super and finance systems will help set up ASFA to support the sector through significant demographic changes and a time of economic challenge,” Ms Elkins said.
Ms Vincent said she looked forward to helping guide ASFA’s priorities as more Australians approach retirement.
“Helping people move from saving for retirement to living a confident retirement is one of the most important challenges facing our sector,” Ms Vincent said.
“I look forward to working with ASFA to help more Australians access the support and advice they need to make the most of their super and their retirement.”
Ms Farrar said she valued ASFA’s unique role bringing together all parts of the super system.
“Leading a member-owned fund that brings together industry, public-sector and retail heritage has shown me the value of different perspectives. I look forward to bringing that experience to the Board to help strengthen the system and deliver even better retirement outcomes,” Ms Farrar said.
ASFA CEO Mary Delahunty said the appointments would support ASFA’s focus on a simpler, safer and more stable superannuation system.
“ASFA plays an important role in the super sector, bringing together funds of all types and their service providers to tackle issues that no single organisation can address alone.
“Kathy and Kate understand the organisation’s unique role and are committed to our vision of an Australia where people retire with confidence supported by a strong and efficient superannuation system. I’m excited to work with them.”
Ms Farrar and Ms Vincent will commence their Board duties in December.
