ASFA, the voice of Super, extends its congratulations to those appointed to the Federal Coalition’s Shadow Ministry today under the leadership of Sussan Ley.
In particular, ASFA congratulates and welcomes the Opposition’s Economics and Finance Team, including:
- Ted O’Brien MP, Shadow Treasurer
- Senator James Paterson, Shadow Finance Minister
- Senator Andrew Bragg, Shadow Minister for Productivity and Deregulation
- Pat Conaghan MP, Shadow Assistant Treasurer and Shadow Minister for Financial Services
- Senator Dave Sharma, Shadow Assistant Minister for Competition, Charities, and Treasury
“Australia’s superannuation sector is a cornerstone of our economic stability and invests across the Australian economy, including in critical infrastructure in all parts of Australia,” ASFA CEO Mary Delahunty said.
“Super funds manage $4.2 trillion on behalf of 17 million Australians and are delivering returns that result in stronger retirement outcomes.
“We look forward to working constructively with the new Shadow Ministry during the next parliamentary term to ensure superannuation continues to deliver on its promise of providing dignity and financial security in retirement, alongside being a pillar of economic stability for the nation,” Ms Delahunty concluded.
The superannuation sector’s priorities include improving retirement outcomes for Australians through the provision of quality financial advice, and progressing Payday Super which will enable workers to see their super build in real-time, alongside their wages.
During the recent federal election campaign ASFA also welcomed the bi-partisan commitment to tackling financial abuse in the financial sector, and will work closely with the new Shadow Ministry to progress this important work.
