ASFA Template Investment Management Agreement updated

ASFA’s Template Investment Management Agreement (IMA) is a document in our Best Practice Paper series. It supports ASFA members by providing a starting point for IMA negotiations between trustees and investment managers.

Minor updates were made to the template IMA in January 2022 to improve its operation following a review process. The updated template IMA, along with a summary of updates are available to ASFA members in the Best Practice Paper section of the ASFA website.

If you have any queries regarding the updated IMA, please contact Julian Cabarrus.

APRA data: new FAQs and deferred lodgment date for historical insurance data

APRA has published a new set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) to provide further guidance to registrable superannuation entity licensees on the reporting standards and the reporting of historical data for Phase 1 of the Superannuation Data Transformation (SDT) project.

Importantly, APRA has extended the due date for reporting historical insurance information under reporting standard SRS 251.0 Insurance (for SRF 251.2 Insurance Payments) from 28 February to 30 May 2022. The deferral has been provided to ensure RSE licensees can submit quality data for the historical reporting periods.

The reporting date for the historical data for SRS 550.0 Asset Allocation (SRF 550.0 Table 1 Strategic asset allocation) and SRS 705.1 Investment and Performance Objectives remains unchanged, with this data due by 28 February 2022.

APRA is encouraging RSE licensees that are able to submit the historical insurance information earlier to do so. The returns for historical periods will be allocated in APRA Connect in early February 2022, so RSE licensees can begin submitting returns after the December 2021 quarter submissions are completed (by 28 January 2022).

ASFA members with questions with respect to the SDT historical returns can contact APRA via the dataanalytics@apra.gov.au inbox.
