DESCRIPTION:ASFA’s Death Benefits Claims Handling workshop is designed for professionals who manage\, assess\, support or oversee superannuation death benefit claims. \nThis practical workshop builds the knowledge and confidence needed to handle claims effectively\, sensitively and in line with industry obligations. It focuses on the end-to-end death benefit claims process\, including identifying beneficiaries\, assessing nominations\, supporting vulnerable claimants and managing difficult conversations. \nParticipants will gain: \n\nPractical death benefit claims handling capability\nGreater confidence supporting claimants during sensitive circumstances\nSkills to manage difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism\nAn understanding of key claims handling obligations and processes\nStronger capability to manage claims consistently and member-centrically.\n\nThis workshop equips staff to manage claims confidently\, compliantly and with member-centric sensitivity. \n  \nLearning outcomes \nAfter attending this workshop you will be able to: \n\nDescribe the AFS licence obligations for claims handling services\nUnderstand effective claims handling principles\nIdentify vulnerable claimants and make appropriate adjustments\nExplain the claims process and timeframes\, including identifying beneficiaries and conducting claim staking\nDetermine appropriate tax rates for death claim proceeds\nVerify binding death benefit nominations\nHandle difficult conversations and support potential beneficiaries.\n\n\nWho should attend?\n \nThis course is ideal for staff who require both core super knowledge and specialised death benefit capability including: \n\nDeath benefit claims assessors\nInsurance and claims administrators\nMember services officers\nSuperannuation operations staff\nCompliance and risk professionals\nTrustee office staff\nLegal and dispute resolution teams.\n\n\nHow you’ll learn \n3-hour online virtual workshop. \nASFA’s virtual workshops are a live and interactive learning experience.
