Dr. R.M. Marty M. Natalegawa, Indonesia’s Foreign Minister from 2009 to 2014, is a respected global diplomat and author of “Does ASEAN Matter? A View from Within” (2018). He serves on multiple UN and international advisory boards and was Indonesia’s Permanent Representative to the UN and Ambassador to the UK and Ireland.
Dr Marty played crucial roles in ASEAN’s development and chaired significant UN committees, including efforts to ratify the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. He holds advanced degrees from the Australian National University, the University of Cambridge, and the London School of Economics, and has received prestigious awards, including Indonesia’s Bintang Mahaputra Adipradana medal and an Honorary KCMG from Queen Elizabeth II.
