About

The Your Future, Your Super (YFYS) reforms have created an intense focus on trustee decision-making and trustee and director accountability for those decisions.

This critical deep-dive session, facilitated by Lisa Butler Beatty (Partner, KPMG), Nathan Kessey (Director, KPMG), and Carmen Bekker (Partner, KPMG), explores the meaning of the best financial interests duty, the need for trustees to consider “how” they make decisions, and the data, insights and evidence critical to decision-making. These issues will be analysed through practical scenarios relevant to trustees such as outsourcing arrangements, categories of expenses (including marketing), large scale strategic decisions and more.

Key topics to be discussed include:

  • The meaning of best financial interests – has the meaning really changed?
  • The process of decision-making for trustees
  • Analysis of typical and difficult scenarios (including marketing expenses)
  • What sort of data and insights can be used?

Who should attend?

  • Trustees and directors
  • Executive team and senior management (especially those responsible for preparing board papers)
  • Office of the trustee
  • Group governance professionals
  • Brand, marketing and communications professionals
