1 July 2022 might be the date from which the new Retirement Income Covenant takes effect, but what do superannuation trustees need to do to get ready?
Reforms relating to superannuation trustees’ management of the retirement phase of the superannuation lifecycle have been on legislators’ and regulators’ agenda for some time. With the introduction of the Retirement Income Covenant, this intention is becoming a reality. This will bring scrutiny and an increased focus on the administration, execution and transparency of trustees’ approaches to managing the retirement phase of members’ superannuation interests. The interaction with other requirements including the best financial interests duty, the restrictions on financial advice, the anti-hawking rules and PDS requirements must also be considered.
This workshop, facilitated by Sarah Yu from King & Wood Mallesons, will provide informative and practical insights into this new regime and help you understand how to get ready and what you should be doing now.
