The Member Insured Benefits Discussion Group is a forum to raise, debate and share information on topical issues in the superannuation industry which have a major impact on the payment of death, disability and insurance benefits.
The Discussion Group aims to assist funds to implement best-practice solutions in these fields, with a focus on meeting the business needs of the fund and members, in a timely and cost-effective manner and in line with regulatory expectations and precedent established by the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal (SCT) and the Courts.

Mark Harrington Manager Claims & Insurance Administration, ESSSuper
Mark has held senior roles at ESSSuper since he joined the fund in 2003. His current responsibilities in the role of Manager Claims & Insurance Administration include the position of Board Delegate and the management of both self-insurance and external insurance arrangements within the organisation.
Prior to that Mark spent 15 years at ANZ Funds Management (and its predecessors) and held a number of senior superannuation roles during this period including the positions of Manager Rollover Funds and Manager Personal Superannuation where he was responsible for the operations of a number of products, including the establishment of one of the first personal superannuation funds which operated throughout the branch network.
Mark was instrumental in the transition of responsibilities between ANZ and ING during the joint venture undertaken in the early 2000’s.
