The SA Discussion Group has been reformed to raise debate and share information on topical issues in the superannuation industry which have a major impact on member retirement outcomes as well as the payment of death, disability and insurance benefits.
The Discussion Group aims to assist funds to implement best-practice solutions in these fields, with a focus on meeting the business needs of the fund and members, in a timely and cost-effective manner and in line with regulatory expectations.
Michael Gomersall Director, Michael Gomersall Consulting
Michael is an actuary with over 35 years’ experience in the corporate super industry. His expertise has been acquired through senior roles covering actuarial, group insurance, administration, funds management, member education, business development and consulting for corporate, public sector and industry superannuation funds.
Michael is on the Board of Anglican Super, is a Fellow of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia, a Graduate of the Institute of Superannuation Trustees was previously Director and Superannuation Community Leader at Deloitte Actuaries and Consultants.
Michael is working on a consulting basis with several institutional clients on their growth strategies and in the areas of benefit design, investment strategy and employee benefits. He is currently on a mission to improve members’ insurance outcomes by establishing best practice in the areas of early intervention, rehabilitation and wellness programs having recently reviewed the insurance arrangements for a range of clients including Lutheran Super and the AFL Players Association.
Attendance at an ASFA Discussion Group qualifies for one Continuing Professional Development (CPD) point for members of ASFA’s Professional Accreditation Program.
