The ASFA Secretariat met with the office of Hon Amanda Rishworth MP, Minister for Social Services, to discuss superannuation and retirement income policy.
Research and submissions
A submission was made to Treasury in response to the Annual Member Meetings Notice Draft Regulations. The submission was broadly supportive of the proposed changes. These included the proposal to aggregate the reporting of expenses and to align several definitions with those in the accounting standards.
ASFA’s research highlighting the differences between men and women’s superannuation balances was quoted in an article on the gender gap in The Age.
ASFA’s research on account balances by region was featured in an article in Adelaide Now.
ASFA was featured in articles commenting on the proposed review of the Your Future, Your Super reforms and performance test in the Financial Standard, the SMSF Adviser, FS Sustainability and The Australian.
