Dr Ashby Monk (USA)

Dr Ashby Monk is the Executive and Research Director of the Stanford Global Projects Center. He has a strong track record of academic and industry publications. He was named by CIO Magazine as one of the most influential academics in the institutional investing world in 2013. His research and writing has been featured in The Economist, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Institutional Investor, Reuters, Forbes and on National Public Radio among a variety of other media. His current research focus is on the design and governance of institutional investors, with a particular specialization in pension and sovereign wealth funds.
Beyond the academy, Dr. Monk co-founded and serves as Chairman of the following entities: Long Game Savings, a direct to consumer personal finance technology company; Aligned Intermediary, a climate infrastructure investment advisor serving pensions and other long-term investors; Kalytix, a pension fund governance consultancy, and Novarca North America, a fee and cost analytics firm focused on helping pensions obtain the best deal from their managers. He is also a Senior Advisor to two sovereign funds, two super funds and a US endowment.
He received his Doctorate in Economic Geography at Oxford University and holds a Master’s degree in International Economics from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Princeton University.
