Pillar CEO joins ASFA Board

ASFA – the Voice of Super is delighted to announce that Peter Beck, chief executive of Pillar Administration, has joined the ASFA board, effective immediately.

Mr Beck replaces Linda Elkins, who left Russell Investments (a service provider) to join Colonial First State (a retail fund member).

“The change was necessary because of ASFA’s sectoral representation rules,” says ASFA CEO, Pauline Vamos. “ASFA would like to thank Linda, who joined the Board in November and provided some valuable insights particularly around member engagement. We wish her the best in her new role at Colonial First State and look forward to continuing to work closely with her as an active participant of the Member Advice Policy Committee.

“We are delighted to welcome Peter as the representative for service providers. His extensive experience in the super industry and financial services generally, and his deep knowledge of super administration, will be a great asset to the board and benefit the ASFA community.”

Mr Beck has worked in financial services for 33 years, in banking, insurance, investments and superannuation. He is a former head of strategy and actuarial at Colonial Limited, chief executive of CommInsure and director of JMIFA (now Superpartners).

When asked what he thought he could bring to the ASFA board he said “I have both a wide strategic perspective of financial services as well as detailed knowledge of superannuation. My experience as an administration and insurance services provider to superannuation funds in the public sector, industry funds, and retail sector should be helpful.

“As a past director of the Insurance Council of Australia I have industry association experience in financial services to offer. I’m looking forward to making a positive contribution to ASFA and its members.” Beck said.

The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) is the peak industry body for the entire superannuation sector. It is the only industry body that represents all types of superannuation funds, service providers and fund members.
