The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) is proud to support a new retirement planning publication to assist people in making good financial decisions as they plan for their retirement.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) launched the brochure, Financial decisions at retirement, today as well as updating its online MoneySmart Retirement Planner.
“The release of the brochure is timely as we have an aging population and more and more of us are thinking about what we need to live on in retirement and how we should make these important decisions,” said ASFA chief executive officer, Pauline Vamos.
"It has also been a key part of ASIC's brief for a long time to provide information to consumers. The publication is a simple, clear guide to what Australians should be thinking about financially in the lead up to their retirement.
"In addition, consumer-focused websites like MoneySmart and ASFA's Super Guru help engage Australians with their finances and empower them to ask better questions as they make financial plans. It gives people a place to start in what can be a complex area.”
ASFA this week relaunched www.superguru.com.au; a financial literacy site for consumers focused on superannuation.
“We hope that people of all ages access the site. We know that many super funds provide excellent information to members – Super Guru provides broader information and will also help SMSF trustees.
