ASFA – the Voice of Super is proud to announce the appointment of Louise du Pre-Alba as Director of Policy.
Ms du Pre-Alba, previously the head of superannuation at ASIC, will take up her appointment immediately on a part-time basis and be full time in the role as of 1 December.
ASFA Chief Executive Pauline Vamos said the appointment reflected the exceptional level of both strategic and implementation policy work to be done over the next three years in the consultation and implementation of the reform agenda for the superannuation industry.
“I met with the new Minister for Superannuation in Canberra last week and he made it very clear that the superannuation guarantee (SG), Cooper and Future of Financial Advice (FoFA) were top priorities for this Government,” Ms Vamos said. “We will continue to advocate strongly for the increase in SG as well as ensure that the Cooper and FoFA recommendations are implemented appropriately. One of Louise’s first tasks will be to lead ASFA’s consultation on FoFA.
“Louise’s appointment is a strengthening of ASFA’s policy resources that will enable us to deliver for the industry, fund members and the Australian economy. Best practice in Fund Governance, efficiency, accountability and transparency of the industry will ensure that the policy settings around super are focused on getting as many Australians as possible to retire with dignity and on an income stream that lasts.
“This is not only a timely appointment for ASFA but also for the great benefit of the industry. There is clearly a growing impatience towards the superannuation industry in terms of driving change and reform itself.”
Ms du Pre-Alba was most recently ASIC Senior Executive Leader – Superannuation. She is well known throughout the industry and has held various regulatory roles since 1993. She holds Bachelor degrees in Laws and Arts and is an ASFA Accredited Investment Fiduciary (ASFA AIF). She was also the primary author of the ISC’s Good Practice Guide for Trustees of Superannuation Funds and a member of Don Mercer’s Superannuation Working Group which provided the key recommendations to Government on the “Safety in Super” legislation. She will be based in Melbourne.
David Graus will remain as General Manager Policy and Industry Practice.
