Industry first: ASFA Conference iPad app

In a first for the Australian financial services industry, the ASFA 2011 National Conference and Super Expo will offer its Conference Workbook for iPad, the organisation announced today.

The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) said it was committed to utilising digital technologies where they could improve a member's or delegate's experience of its services.

"The advent of tablet technology has opened up a raft of new possibilities for sharing information and communicating," said Pauline Vamos, chief executive of ASFA.

"While we are catering for all our delegates by offering both a hard copy Workbook and the iPad version, in future, we anticipate the popularity of the iPad and its tablet cousins will see us do away with the printed Workbook entirely."

The ASFA Conference Workbook for iPad - available for free through iTunes - has the complete Conference program, speaker bios, social media feeds and note-taking functionality.

A hard copy of the ASFA 2011 Conference Workbook will also be offered to delegates.

In addition to the Workbook for iPad, ASFA is releasing an app for smartphones in conjunction with its social media partner for Conference, CommInsure.

The mobile Conference app also has program and speaker info, live social media feeds and live alerts for any last minute schedule or room changes.

The app is optimised for iPhone and Android devices, but accessible by any smartphone.

To be held in Brisbane next week, the ASFA 2011 National Conference and Super Expo (9-11 Nov) is the largest annual superannuation conference in the world.
