New board members for ASFA

The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) is very pleased to announce that two new directors have joined its Board. ASFA has just completed its annual Board nomination and election process.

Dean Thomas, General Manager of MLC Masterkey as representative of the retail sector and Martin Crowe, Chief Executive Officer, Telstra Super as representative of corporate funds, both attended their first Board meeting as ASFA directors today.

"I'm sure all ASFA members will be very pleased with the very senior and experienced Board that ASFA has," said ASFA chief executive, Pauline Vamos.

"The 10 Board members reflect ASFA's five membership categories. ASFA will have significant challenges over the next 12 months dealing with Stronger Super implementation but also dealing with policy development issues around post-retirement and other economic and social policy issues."

The new ASFA Board is comprised of the following industry leaders:
Industry Funds
Tony Lally, Chief Executive Officer, Sunsuper (Chair)
David Atkin, Chief Executive Officer, Cbus

Public Sector
Michael Dwyer, Chief Executive Officer, First State Super
Brad Holzberger, Chief Investment Officer, QSuper

Service Providers
Peter Beck, Chief Executive Officer, Pillar Administration
Jim Minto, Managing Director, TAL Limited

Retail Sector
Nicolette Rubinsztein, General Manager - Strategy, Colonial First State Investments
Dean Thomas, General Manager, MLC Masterkey

Corporate Funds
Martin Crowe, Chief Executive Officer, Telstra Super
Roslyn Ramwell, Chief Executive Officer, Harwood Superannuation Fund (CSR Super/Rinker Super)

"ASFA would also like to take this opportunity and to give very special thanks to board members that retired today; Jane Paskin of Clayton Utz and Janet Torney of QANTAS Superannuation," said Ms Vamos.

"The last 12 months have been busy for ASFA, in particular the policy agenda for the Board has been enormous. Through Janet's leadership as policy committee chair and Jane's insight into governance and legal issues, we have seen robust and constructive debate."
