ASFA Fellow
A Fellow of ASFA (or FASFA) recognises the elite in the superannuation industry.
The award of Fellow to an ASFA member represents the culmination of a sustained period of commitment to the profession and reflects the superior level of achievement in both professional practice and professional development of the member. Applicants must demonstrate a contribution to the industry.
Honorary Fellow (Hon. FASFA) is additional recognition to individuals who have made a particularly significant contribution to the superannuation industry. Being an Associate or Fellow of ASFA demonstrates that your expertise and professionalism has been recognised by your peers.
As a Fellow or Associate of ASFA the benefits include:
- Postnominals of AASFA or FASFA for personal use
- Use of postnominals in all ASFA documentation, eg minutes of meetings and correspondence
- Eligibility for policy committee membership
- Eligibility for life membership nomination
- Option of listing in directory of current AASFA and FASFA in annual reports
- Option of listing in directory of current AASFA and FASFA on the ASFA website (from 2012)
- Continued listing of new AASFAs and FASFAs in Superfunds
- Availability of AASFA/FASFA only events/services
Entry requirements: Fellow
- Minimum educational requirements
- Experience requirements: Seven years dedicated experience in the superannuation industry
- Two references: ASFA Fellow and one other
- Detailed curriculum vitae stating experience in the superannuation industry
- Statement of contribution to superannuation industry (see application form)
- Maintain a minimum of 30 CPD points in any given membership year including at least 15 points awarded by ASFA.
- Membership of ASFA, either as an employee of a member or as an individual member (see Membership)
- Acceptance of the ASFA Code of Ethics (pdf)
Minimum education requirements for Fellow status
One of more of the following:
- Diploma of Superannuation or Diploma of Financial Planning (or equivalent)
- Advanced Diploma of Superannuation
- ASFA Diploma of Superannuation Management (ASFA qualification previously available)
- Bachelors qualification with a superannuation major and listed on ASIC’s Register of compliant courses for RG146 in superannuation
- Graduate Diploma or Masters Degree listed on ASIC’s Register of compliant courses for RG146 in superannuation
- Actuary who has completed Part III of Institute of Actuary’s Program
- Recognised accountant who has completed courses listed on ASIC’s Register of compliant courses for RG146 in superannuation
- Lawyer who has completed formal training relevant to superannuation
