Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
You may be able to gain an exemption from an ASFA subject based on the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained from previous formal study, training, work or general life experience. Where the exemption is largely based on previous study, the process is known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Where the exemption is largely based on collected evidence of current knowledge and skills gained by work experience and training, the process of evidence gathering is known as Portfolio Assessment or Recognition of Current Competency (RCC).
In evaluating applications for RPL or RCC, ASFA looks for evidence that you have met subject requirements, maintaining your working knowledge of the subject area and of any changes in that area (i.e. maintained currency).
ASFA offers exemptions via RPL and RCC into the following courses on its scope.
- FNS40910 Certificate IV in Superannuation
- FNS50610 Diploma of Financial Planning
- FNS50710 Diploma of Superannuation
- FNS60510 Advanced Diploma of Superannuation
For further information, download the ASFA RPL Kit.
