CPD fact sheet
ASFA recommends the development of a CPD program appropriate to the learning needs of the individual. A balanced CPD program should include a variety of activities.
ASFA’s online tracking system allows members to view their CPD report at any time. This report will list all CPD activities successfully completed with ASFA for the year.
CPD points requirements
Associates and Fellows – ASFA mandates 30 CPD points per year to maintain your status, including at least 15 from ASFA specific activities.
Trustees – ASFA recommends 30 CPD points per year, of which half should be from trustee specific activities
Compliance professionals, relationship managers and senior managers – ASFA recommends 30 CPD points per year.
Administrators, call centre staff – ASFA recommends 20 CPD points per year.
How can I earn CPD?
ASFA CPD Points are allocated according to a combination of the number of hours and effort involved in any given activity and the learning outcomes.
Types of CPD
- Structured learning - for instance, SuperCPD.
- Professional reading – for instance, Superfunds magazine.
- Participation in discussion groups and committees – for instance, ASFA discussion groups and committee membership.
CPD points table
The table below sets out the various activities available for the financial year 2011-2012 and their relevant point allocation. These points relate to activities that begin on or after 1 July 2011 and will be revised annually.

External CPD
It is recommended that members of the ASFA Accreditation program (Fellows and Associates) kept a diary of external CPD activities for auditing purposes. The diary should contain the description and date of CPD activity, as well as the time taken to complete.
