Guide to Entry

Entries for the 2009 ASFA Communications Awards closed on Friday 29 May.

Entry criteria and fees

You can enter as many campaigns into as many award categories as you wish.

Also this year, you can nominate entries directly into the special award categories. In previous years, the judges determined special award winners from the pool of entries.

Consultant agencies and service providers may submit entries on behalf of their clients if accompanied by written permission. Awards will be made to the principal, with a copy to the agency if requested.

ASFA members: a member's first entry into any category is included as part of their ASFA Membership. Any subsequent entries attract a fee of $150 each.

Non-member entries: a fee of $250 per entry applies.

Each award entry must be accompanied by the 2009 entry form, completed in full, with the necessary fee provided.

Agency Awards
If you have used the services of a specialist agency, that agency can also be recognised at our Awards night if the entry is successful. You can also elect to have a duplicate award presented to the agency. A fee of $200 applies for duplicate awards.
This will be presented at the awards presentation however the fee will not be charged until the event has concluded.

Judging criteria

The judges will use new criteria when evaluating each entry. We've simplified it this year, without watering down the standard. Each of the six criteria will be marked out on a 10 point scale.

  1. Strategy & Objectives (SMART)
  2. Target Audience and Segmentation
  3. Implementation
  4. Communicating the message
  5. Creativity and innovation
  6. Evaluation of progress/results

The judging process

The ASFA Marketing and Communications Team will check all entries to ensure that the criteria are met. The entry will also be checked by a member of the ASFA Policy team to ensure that the campaign is compliant.

The first round of judging - panel of industry peers will evaluate each eligible entry and mark against the criteria using the marketing grid. Up to four of the leading entries in each category will go forward to the next round.

Second round of judging - panel of experts from the field of marketing and communications, not necessarily from the superannuation or financial services industry. The second round judges will use the same marketing grid to evaluate entries.

Award winners will be drawn from the second round judging. More than one award may be presented in each category at the judges' discretion.

Conditions of entry

Any member or non member of ASFA may submit an entry, provided it meets the criteria outlined above. Entries will not be returned.

Awards winners will be featured in the Awards Presentation and on the ASFA website. They may also be the subject of media releases and articles in Superfunds magazine.
