"Super - it's a whole new ball game"... program details
The last 12 months have changed our industry. We are now playing a whole new ball game, trying to connect with super fund members in an era where many of them may have lost faith in their super.
The challenge we face is to engage with our members in a way we've never achieved before. How do we engender the same passion and commitment as we see in sport? What new game plan do we need to implement to get us back on top of the ladder?
Join us at the ASFA Communications Forum and Awards where we'll draw inspiration from the best in the business at ensuring members 'keep the faith' throughout the ups and downs.
The forum will be followed by a sit-down luncheon where we will celebrate excellence and innovation in our industry with the announcing of the winners of the ASFA 2009 Communications Awards. |

Program
| First Quarter: Todd Greenberg – CEO, Canterbury Bulldogs |
Keeping the faith The Canterbury Bulldogs are sitting pretty, on the top rungs of the NRL ladder, but the club is no stranger to dark times. The 2008 season was full of challenges – the club had a star player walk out and finished the season as winner of the wooden spoon.
How has the club persuaded its members to ‘keep the faith’? Todd will share his story of helping to turn the club’s fortunes around and engaging its long-suffering supporters. It’s a timely and apt presentation for super funds.
Todd Greenberg has been involved in the sports and venue management industry for over 15 years, with a career spanning a variety of venue, sports and governing body competencies. In March 2008, he joined the Bulldogs Rugby League Club as the Chief Executive Officer and is the youngest CEO in the National Rugby League (NRL).

| Second Quarter: David Anderson – Principal & Worldwide Partner, Mercer |
The Market of One What are super fund members thinking? Here's a radical idea – why don't we just ask them? David Anderson will talk about the evolution of the call centre into a key member engagement tool which can drive targeted marketing campaigns.
David Anderson leads Mercer's Outsourcing business for Asia Pacific. He has qualifications in marketing, insurance and superannuation. David has 21 years experience working in the financial services industry in Australia. His career experience includes advising large national and multinational companies and foreign governments on investment and retirement savings matters and leading professional teams in the wealth management sector.

 |
| Third Quarter: Neil Lawrence – CEO, Lawrence Creative Strategy |
Turning it around The creative guru behind campaigns such as 'Kevin 07' and the recent World Cup bid launch, Neil will present examples from his own research with fund members to counter many of the current challenges that super faces. An unmissable session to get into the mind of one of Australia's leading advertising talents.
Neil Lawrence is the founder of Lawrence Creative Strategy, as well as the Executive Creative Director of STW, Australia’s largest communications group. His work combines creative flair with a deep understanding of highly complex, strategic political and corporate issues. In 2007, Neil was recognised as ‘Australian Marketer of the Year’ by The Australian newspaper in recognition of his work for Kevin Rudd and the Australian Labor Party.

| Fourth Quarter: ‘The ASFA Transfer’ – hosted by Tracey Spicer |
With apologies to ‘The Gruen Transfer’ our fourth session will get your creative juices flowing.
Our light-hearted (but relevant) activity is a hypothetical scenario. Share with us how you would sell ‘the unsellable’.
This short, sharp session will pit ‘teams’ against each other to see who can brainstorm the most innovative response to the scenario – which we’ll reveal on the day. Each team ‘captain’ will present their idea and then will be asked to vote on who should win the inaugural ASFA Comms Forum Challenge perpetual trophy (and there’ll be a prize for each member of the winning team). |
