Charity
ASFA is proud to be supporting the Humpty Dumpty Foundation for the second year in a row - we again look forward to supporting this charity and helping to provide much needed equipment for sick children.
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation was officially established in 1996 to support children’s services at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney. Due to the overwhelming corporate and community assistance, Humpty now supports over 86 children’s hospitals and health services across Australia and two children’s hospitals in East Timor. Over the past five years Humpty Dumpty has purchased more than 850 pieces of essential medical equipment for children in hospital to give them the best possible chance. Over half the hospitals and health services that Humpty supports are located in rural regions, many of whom rely on government funding and the generosity of locals, but often that is not enough.
Humpty’s Wish List
Humpty's Wish List is created by the Medical Equipment Sub Committee (Bart Cavalletto NSW Department of Health, Kerry Chikarovski and Dr Martin Kluckow) who rigorously assess and evaluate all requests for equipment from hospitals and health services.
Requirements for each equipment submission include the hospital department, the required use of the equipment and the impact the equipment will have in the particular hospital. The equipment request is checked against a list of requirements including only for use in children/babies, lifesaving or pain relieving, not able to be directly funded from other sources and that it is deemed appropriate for that particular hospital providing a particular level of care. A prioritisation list is generated taking into account the importance of the equipment, the number of children who are likely to benefit with a loading for regional and country hospitals.
For each item that is sold, Humpty will purchase the equipment directly from the various medical equipment suppliers and will co-ordinate the delivery to the particular hospital on behalf of the donor. Confirmation of delivery and plaquing of the equipment as a donation from Humpty, with donors details if requested, completes the process. Donors are also welcome to visit the hospitals where they have donated equipment.
All donors are issued with 100% tax deductible receipts.
